In Your Own Words(blog prompt)

PROCESSED FOOD

Admit it. You love processed food. You love luncheon meat, hot dogs and ham for their irresistible aroma and saltiness.

Who doesn't?

I must say, I'm no angel myself. I like processed food. Like more than half of the raging population on Earth, I know processed food is bad for me but I will still eat hot dogs, luncheon meat and ham all the same. Yes, that is the reason why so many people are obese these days. But still, processed food is the most liked food item in my household(or in any household) simply because it is processed food. It is easy to cook, tastes nice, and saves a lot of time on washing the stock-pot. And that is why we must resist this seemingly irresistible temptation.

Here's my daily diet(on the average):

Breakfast: Mostly bread, sometimes cake.

Recess: Bee Hoon, maybe rice with dishes(sometimes with a bit of processed food)

Lunch: Light stuff as I would have training in the afternoon

Dinner(home cooked): 1 plate of meat, vegetables respectively, and a bowl of soup.

I know it is not that fantastic, if you take into the consideration the sometimes splurge on unhealthy food. And that is why the decision for change.

The ideal diet:

Breakfast: As usual

Recess: Sometimes, if I'm hungry, bee hoon, if not, light stuff

Lunch: As per normal

Dinner: As per normal

As you can can see, a small change in a recess diet can mean a lot of changes. And that is why I am going to try real hard to follow this ideal diet. Moderation. That is what i am going to try very hard to achieve.

In Your Own Words(blog prompt)

Imagine that you are Dr Tan and that you have been invited to make an article contribution to a youth magazine to encourage young people to set worthwhile goals and work towards them.
Life is not a bed of roses. In fact, life is all about setting worthwhile goals and working towards them. The main problem nowadays is that people don't know what they truly want in life. Everyday, these ignorant people go about the same old routine, doing the same old things, wasting their life away. Why is this so? They do not set goals for themselves, or set unrealistic goals that they know they cannot achieve.
Thus, setting worthwhile and realistic goals are essential for you to live life to the fullest and not get dragged into the never-ending cycle of ignorance and regret, saying things like i should have done this when i could, i should have tried harder to do that, etc. By the time you realise that, it is probably too late.

How do you go about it?

  1. Think about what you want to do. However, keep it realistic.
  2. Start planning on the first step of the plan. Without the first action, things won't progress.
  3. Remind yourself of the end product that you will be so proud of when the going gets tough. This way, you will be more motivated to succeed.
  4. Always differentiate between what you need and what you want.

With that, I wish all of the readers all the best.

Sec 1 CCA Orientation

On last Friday, we had CCA orientation. (Wushu was part of Part 3 CCA orientation). Here are the details of our performance:
1. Senior talks about wushu and what we do.
2. Routine performance( it was a success)
3. Drums performance
4. Writing down of names

From what I hear from my seniors, last year's orientation yielded poor results(out of 10 who wrote down their names, only 1 or 2 turned up.)
However, this year was excellent! We had 2 whole pages of names written down.

I feel that though many people "oooh" and "ahhh" at martial arts, they just want to want to watch people fighting and are not really interested in experiencing it.
They look at kung fu movies and have the impression that wushu is all about fighting and hurting your enemies. (And that's probably why many people are not keen to join wushu). That's not the case, as a matter of fact.
I would say that wushu is actually an art, the art of learning how to defend ourselves. That's why my passion is in wushu. The aggressiveness, the swiftness, all these are the beautiful things about wushu.

I actually joined wushu when i was in Primary 3. One day, I was watching TV when i saw this man flying through the air with a spear in his hand and some kids doing a disciplined routine. (The flying man turned out to be my coach). I must say, i was impressed. After watching the commercial a few other times, i had two thoughts. The first was: "These guys are good." The second thought was:"I want to join wushu". And that's where my passion for wushu started.

Now, lets move on to people who just do not follow instructions. We decided that we would introduce them to a few weapons that we used. That Proved to be a mistake. There was this one boy who grabbed a pair of drumsticks and started sparring with his friend who was holding a sword. The poor guy ended up getting a cut. :D
