Sec 1 CCA Orientation

On last Friday, we had CCA orientation. (Wushu was part of Part 3 CCA orientation). Here are the details of our performance:
1. Senior talks about wushu and what we do.
2. Routine performance( it was a success)
3. Drums performance
4. Writing down of names

From what I hear from my seniors, last year's orientation yielded poor results(out of 10 who wrote down their names, only 1 or 2 turned up.)
However, this year was excellent! We had 2 whole pages of names written down.

I feel that though many people "oooh" and "ahhh" at martial arts, they just want to want to watch people fighting and are not really interested in experiencing it.
They look at kung fu movies and have the impression that wushu is all about fighting and hurting your enemies. (And that's probably why many people are not keen to join wushu). That's not the case, as a matter of fact.
I would say that wushu is actually an art, the art of learning how to defend ourselves. That's why my passion is in wushu. The aggressiveness, the swiftness, all these are the beautiful things about wushu.

I actually joined wushu when i was in Primary 3. One day, I was watching TV when i saw this man flying through the air with a spear in his hand and some kids doing a disciplined routine. (The flying man turned out to be my coach). I must say, i was impressed. After watching the commercial a few other times, i had two thoughts. The first was: "These guys are good." The second thought was:"I want to join wushu". And that's where my passion for wushu started.

Now, lets move on to people who just do not follow instructions. We decided that we would introduce them to a few weapons that we used. That Proved to be a mistake. There was this one boy who grabbed a pair of drumsticks and started sparring with his friend who was holding a sword. The poor guy ended up getting a cut. :D

Signing off......
